-Wetland samples are assessed for Hyalella morbidity
-Current project, results pending.
Fall 2011- Spring 2012
Project Title: The Presence of Histone Variant H2A.Z in Drosophila melanogaster Egg Chambers
Fort Lewis College, Durango, CO
Supervisor: Dr. John Condie, Professor of Biology
-D. melanogaster egg chambers were examined for presence of H2A.Z using immunofluorescence.
-Results were inconclusive.
Fall 2010-Spring 2012
Project Title: Senior Mini-Thesis Honors Paper
Fort Lewis College, Durango, CO
Supervisors: Dr. Jonathon Latta, Professor of Music and Dr. Michael Martin, Professor of History
-A mini-thesis paper was written to examine connections between seemingly unrelated fields.
-Chemical and psychological aspects of LSD were analyzed and evaluated in terms of musicians’ use.
-This interdisciplinary research yielded results showing that LSD was a passive catalyst in altering musical creativity.
Summer 2009
Project Title: Linking Sin Nombre Virus to Sudden Aspen Decline
Fort Lewis College, Durango, CO
Supervisor: Dr. Erin Lehmer, Professor of Biology
-In South Western Colorado, wild deer mice were trapped and tested for presence of sin nombre virus.
-Trapping sites were classified into different levels of sudden aspen decline.
-Aspen tree stands that had suffered a greater amount of damage due to sudden aspen decline were found to have higher risk for populations of deer mice carrying the sin nombre virus.
